Leroy Parish

Curtis Leroy Parish, Sr., age 83 of Paris, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at his home.

Leroy owned and operated Parish Auto Repair established in 1947 by his father as Parish Shell Station. In 2000 Leroy retired and began working as a courier for LabCorp. He was a lifelong member of Maplewood Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. He was a former member of the Gideons International.

Born September 24, 1938, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Oscar Lee Parish and the late Eunice “Billie” Wilson Parish.

He was married to the late Kay Lee Parish on February 23, 1963, who preceded him in death January 30, 2011. On December 28, 2016, he married Kay Peagler Parish, from Charleston, S.C., where they lived in addition to their home in Paris.

In addition to his wife, Leroy is survived by two children, Sonya (Michael) Hopkins of Nashville, and Curt (Nancy) Parish of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Kailee Hopkins, Abigail (Aidan) Talley, Zachary Hopkins, and Kacy (Chris) Alley; a sister-in-law, Linda Parish of Cordova, TN, a brother-in-law, Steve (Pat) Lee of Bonita Springs, FL.

Along with his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Eugene Parish.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Maplewood Baptist Church 8700 Hwy 218, Paris, TN 38242 from 12-2pm.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Maplewood Baptist Church at 2 pm with Ben Whitmire, Paul Veazey, and Dr. Jeff Parish officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry Berry, Kenny Arnold, Jack Pressey, Sam Knott, Dwayne Mathis, Gary Morris, Gary Vandiver, Eddie Wilson, Jimmy Barrett, and John Childers. George Evans will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.
