Larry Richard Garis, age 78 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
He retired after many years in the trucking industry as the owner & operator of Haul-Rite. Larry’s passion in life was flying, he always told people his occupation was being a “bush pilot”. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam era.
Larry was born August 15, 1942, in San Jose, CA, to the late John Elmer Garis and the late Jewel Smotherman Garis.
He was married to Evalyn Garis, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Dane (Elisabeth) Garis of Paris; his stepchildren, Diane (Mark) O’Malley of Mesa, AZ, Evvie Lynn of MN, and Billy Punches of MN; two grandchildren, Kevin Garis of CA, and Brendan Garis of CA; one step-granddaughter, Whitney O’Malley of AK; one niece, Michelle Iund; and two nephews, Phillip Garis and Nathan Garis.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Garis and Phil Garis.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. His body is to be cremated, with the cremated remains to be scattered in Alaska where his wife’s remains were scattered.
