Justice Lindberg “Linn” Smothers, age 88 of Paris, TN, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020, at his residence.
He retired after 23 years as a machinist at Cleveland Graphite Bronze in Cleveland, OH, and then worked at Lingle and Plumley Companies in Paris. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and boating. Linn also enjoyed billiards, repairing automobiles, and riding his Harley. Linn settled in Ohio around 1950, and then he returned to Paris in 1975. Linn was always the life of a party.
Linn was born on June 16, 1931 in Paris, TN, to the late Elbert Hawkins Smothers and to the late Minnie Mae Burnette Smothers.
He was formerly married to Geneva Mollohan Smothers of Cleveland, OH for 25years. He is also survived by one daughter, Judy (Jerry Kaufmann) Smothers of Fairview Park, OH; two sons, Ronald J. (Joanne) Smothers of Broadview Heights, OH, and Michael Linn Smothers of Cleveland, OH; two granddaughters, Kelly (Matt) Palmer and Meredith Smothers; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mavis Reynolds, Dorothy Nelson, Ruby Elkins, and Ann Elliott; and three brothers, Leaborn Smothers, Paul Smothers, and Junior Smothers.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. A private graveside service will be held, with Gerald Scott officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery, Section E., Lot 177, Grave F.
