Judy Lindsey Gammon, age 65 of Old Hickory, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at her residence.
Judy was an Elementary School Teacher for 39 years, retiring from Sandpiper Shores Elementary School in Boca Raton, FL. She formerly taught in Waverly, and Bradford, TN as well as Independence, MO before moving to Florida. She attended Christ Fellowship in West Palm Beach, FL and Hickory Hill Baptist in Mt. Juliet, TN. She was devoutly religious and loved her large family where she was the youngest of twelve. In the last few years, she enjoyed genealogy study and research and also tutoring a grandson.
Judy was born in the Henry County side of McKenzie, TN on April 19, 1951 to the late Atlas A. Lindsey, Sr. and the late Lottierene Carter Lindsey.
She was married on March 20, 2012 to James E. Gammon, Jr. and he survives of Old Hickory, TN. She is also survived by one step-son, James Whitlow (Callie) Gammon of Mt. Juliet, TN; three sisters, Betty Conger of Paris, TN, Myra Hurst of Manchester, TN and Janice Clapper of Springfield, TN; three brothers, Bobby Joe Lindsey of Bell Buckle, TN, David Lindsey of Mansfield, TN and Roy Lindsey of Gallatin, TN; one brother-in-law, Tom Gammon of Old Hickory, TN; and two grandchildren, Greer Hadley Gammon and Webb Whitlow Gammon.
Besides her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Harris, Jeanette Williams, and Jane Donnelly; and two brothers, Atlas A. Lindsey, Jr. and James Lindsey.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4 – 7 pm and Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 10 – 11 am. The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Whitener of Hickory Hill Baptist in Mt. Juliet officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chase Clapper, Larry Lindsey, James David Lindsey, Danny Conger, Eddie Donnelly, and Josh Donnelly. Whit Gammon and Tom Gammon are named as honorary pallbearers.
Burial will follow in VanDyke Church of Christ Cemetery south of Paris.
