Judy Harwood

Judy Colleen Harwood, age 76, of Springville, died Sunday May 2, at Henry County Healthcare from complications of a rare cancer.

Her body is to be cremated and no services are planned.  Ridgeway Funeral Home is Paris, TN is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials may be sent to any animal shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Judy was born July 10, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan.  She was predeceased by her parents Colleen and Richard Quinnan, stepfather James Wortman, her son James Harwood, Jr., and her brother-in-law Dennis Harwood.

She held a master’s degree in accounting and retired after more than 20 years with the Department of the Navy serving the U.S. Fleet.  She also worked for Eastern Air Lines, in travel agencies, automobile service departments, a local credit union, hospital & other food service roles, and as a local and overseas telephone operator during Vietnam.  Judy lived in Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, California, and Virginia.  She was a twenty-year military wife until her husband retired from the Navy.

She loved her lifetime of rescued dogs, being an avid life-long lighthouse collector, playing games, especially cards & dominoes, dancing, classic rock music, concerts, SCUBA diving, and her personal license plate IROCK2.  Due to moving around all her life, she was a member of the Catholic church, Lutheran church, Baptist church, and Church of Christ.  She has many friends in each of those congregations, was active in many, and raised her sons as Christians.
