Joyce Taylor

Joyce Taylor, age 80 of Buchanan, TN, died Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at her residence.

She was the owner of Taylor Tax Service in Buchanan for over 50 years.  Joyce attended Bethel College in McKenzie where she was a cheerleader and member of the homecoming court.  While at Bethel, she met her future husband, Gordon.  Joyce was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan, where she served as treasurer for over 25 years.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed traveling.

Joyce was born June 23, 1939, in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Ross Allen Waller and the late Helen Waller.

She was married July 19, 1958, to Gordon B. Taylor, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2015.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Dwayne) Barrow of Paris, TN, and Sheri Bragg of Buchanan, TN; one sister, Carole (Adam) Gursoy; four grandchildren, Jeremy Bragg, Craig Barrow, Whitney (Brad) Gates, and Kane Barrow; and two great grandchildren, Maddisyn Gates and Jacksyn Gates.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Allen Waller.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2020, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, 13700 Highway 79 N, Buchanan, TN 38222.  The funeral service will be Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 11:00 am at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, with Robert McBroom and David Alan Jackson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Willoughby, David Enoch, Hughlette King, Bobby Myrick, Gary Fletcher, and Marty Visser.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Joe Paul & Joyce Jones, Fred & Ann Patterson, Gary & Bettye Hinson, Linda & David Sutherland, Jerry & Cindy Bailey, Jack & Janice King.

Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Buchanan, TN.
