Joseph William “Joey” Sturgill, II, age 63 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
He was a former supervisor at Dana Corporation in Paris and previously worked at Celotex and Mohon International. When his father passed away, Joey left school, got a job, and helped take care of his younger siblings. He worked hard and later received his GED that he was super proud of. He was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church in Mansfield. Joey served as pastor of McDavid Grove Baptist Church in Paris and as a supply pastor for the Western District Baptist Association. He collected cars and knives and enjoyed fishing.
Joey was born November 13, 1956, in Bristol, VA, to the late Joseph William Sturgill, Sr., and the late Audrey May Bolling Hall.
He was married to Betty Carol Foust Sturgill, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one brother, Jerry Wayne (Heather) Sturgill of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, April Mae Watson; and two brothers, Michael Anthony Dean Sturgill and Robert Paul Sturgill.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. The body is to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2020, at 3:00 pm at the Paris Landing State Park Pavilion in Buchanan, TN, with Gerald Scott officiating.
