John Luther Zorn

John Luther Zorn, age 68 of Puryear, TN, passed away on Saturday April 26, 2025, at his residence in Puryear.

He was born in Urbana, IL, on September 26, 1956, to Robert Zorn and Hattie Bishop Zorn who both survive of Paris, TN.

John retired after 32 years of service from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation as lead worker. In his retirement, he worked several years with Doug Taylor Auction Service in Puryear. He loved boating, and spending time on the pontoon with friends and family. John enjoyed going to the beach and was an avid deer hunter. He loved smoking meat on his Traeger smoker and was well known for his pulled pork barbeque. He also liked to collect cast iron. He was a past member of the Puryear Lions Club and the Piper City, IL Lions Club. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, and Puryear Baptist Church, where he served on the building and grounds committee and greeted people as they came in the door.

He married Beverly Brandt Zorn on September 24, 1977, and she survives of Puryear.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one son, Bryan (Sara) Zorn of Piper City, IL; one daughter, Megan (Josh) Buckman of Columbus Junction, Iowa; one brother, Ron Zorn of Louisville, KY; one sister in law, Donna (Mike) Sriver of Chatsworth, IL; two brothers in law, Gary (Joy) Brandt of Magnolia, DE, and Jim (Sue) Brandt of Kankakee, IL; and three grandchildren, Kennedy Buckman, Paisley Buckman, and Boston Buckman.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Puryear Baptist Church with a Memorial Service beginning at 1:00 pm with Bro. Larry Simmons officiating.

Named as honorary pallbearers are Doug Berry, Larry Hale, Dick Hitchens, Wayne Dill, John Livengood, Doug Taylor, Brent Shetley, Kim Miller, and Junior Staggs.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for June in Piper City, IL.

Memorials may be made to Sons of the American Legion or Puryear Baptist Church.
