John B. Routon

John B. Routon, age 93 of Milan, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at his residence.

He retired after a long career as an industrial engineer for International Telephone & Telegraph, a job that he very much enjoyed.  John was a U.S. Air Force veteran.  He was member of Sitka Church of Christ and had previously taught Sunday School for 40 years at the Main Street Church of Christ in Milan.   

John was born September 25, 1930, in Paris, TN, to the late Everette Routon and the late Nona Bucy Routon.

He was married July 1, 1962, to his wife of 61 years, Alice Lavesta “Vestie” Martin Routon, who survives, of Milan, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Mary Alice Routon of Milan, TN; one son, David Routon of Milan, TN; and two grandchildren, Madelynn Hays of Milan, TN, and Dr. Jonathan (Josephine) Routon of Nashville, TN; and three nieces, Carolyn (Carey) Goodman of Routon, TN, Angie Cooper of Paris, TN, and Marilyn Routon Baker of Paris, TN. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Roger Routon.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with John Dale officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.
