Longtime Paris resident, John Harrison, age 98, died Friday, September 20, 2024, at AHC of Goodlettsville, TN.
He retired after 33 years with AT&T, formerly Bellsouth telephone company in Paris. John was a longtime Boy Scout leader and former member of the Paris Optimist Club. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and a member and deacon of Union Primitive Baptist Church in McKenzie, TN.
John was born January 10, 1926, in Greenfield, TN, to the late John Jerdon Harrison and the late Jessie Alma Harrison.
He was married May 18, 1952, to Ruby Dell Bunton, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2013.
He is survived by his two sons, John Wayne (Jane) Harrison of Goodlettsville, TN, and David Lawrence (Susan) Harrison of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Adam W. (Kristina) Harrison of Jackson, TN, Rachel Harrison of Goodlettsville, TN, Chase B. (April) Harrison of Bartlett, TN, and Johnathan D. (Tiffany) Harrison of Gleason, TN; and six great grandchildren, Noah. Tristan, Delaney, Molly, Jude, and Knox.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Hooper Harrison and Claude Millard Harrison.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Monday, September 23, 2024, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with David Harrison, John Wayne Harrison, and Chase Harrison officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Harrison, Johnathan Harrison, Donald Bunton, Billy Phelps, Patrick Corbin, and Ed Long. Named as honorary pallbearers are Calvin Jones, Leon Bumpus, and all the other AT&T employees.
Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris, TN
