John G. Weiher, Jr., age 85 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Paris Health Care in Paris, TN.
John was a life-long Catholic and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 63 years where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and active in planning Octoberfest for many years. He was a retired lifelong farmer and was a Grade A dairy Farmer for many years. He was also a University of Tennessee test demonstration farmer for several years. John served on the Henry County Election Commission for 38 years. He helped found the Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department and also served on the Charter Board for the Puryear Country Club. He enjoyed dancing, was a US Army Veteran, and loved his wife, family, community, and country above himself.
John was born September 4, 1932 in Elmhurst, IL to the late John George Weiher, Sr. and the late Jennie Cash Springer Weiher.
He was married on November 12, 1955 to Joyce Marjorie Schroeder Weiher and she survives of Paris, TN. He is also survived by two daughters, Linda Jones of Memphis, TN, and Colette Turman of Paris, TN; three sons, John G. Weiher III of Cottage Grove, TN, Joel Weiher of Eaton Rapids, MI, and Jed (Debbie) Weiher of Lakeland, TN; one brother, Robert (Judy) Weiher of Belvidere, IL; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Chandler, Erica Freeman, Brandon Weiher, Kristin Jones, Morgan Jones, Matthew Jones, Ryan Weiher, and Ashley Stallard; nine great grandchildren, Chance Chandler, Paige Chandler, Braxton Owen, Kaitlyn Hill, Andrew Weiher, Alexander Weiher, Hunter Stallard, Madison Turman, and Austin Turman; and one great great grandchild, Kinsley Owen.
Besides his parents, John was also preceded in death by one sister, JoEtta Paschall; and one grandson, Scotty Carter.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. The body is to be cremated. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1210 E. Wood St, Paris, TN 38242 with a Celebration of Life to follow the Mass. Father Martin Orjianioke will officiate.
