John Henry “Rock” French, age 97, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn. He married June 24, 1941 to Robbie R. Weaks French, who survives.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, a retired 36 year Locomotive Engineer for L & N Railroad and CSX Railroad, a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a WW II Army Veteran who served in the Panama Canal. He was an avid coon hunter.
He was the son of the late Walter French and the late Edna Glen French.
Besides his wife, Mr. French is survived by: a daughter: Gail Troxler of Nashville, Tenn., a son: John Dale (Willene) French of Paris, Tenn. Four grandchildren: John William (Kristin) French of Blaine, WA, Dalana A. (Rob) Hessing of Adamsville, TN, Michael Troxler of Tuscaloosa, AL and Derek (Miwa) Troxler of Plano, IL; Three great grandchildren: Sydney Hessing, Claar French & Yuki Troxler.
Along with his parents, Rock was preceded in death by sisters: Evelyn White Christopher, Peggy Dumas, Pat Smith Bowers and a brother Seth Wilton French.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2015 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2015. The Funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2015, with Johnathan Smith & Paul "Bud" Merwin officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.
