Joe Atkins, age 76, of Murray, Ky., died Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Murray Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, Ky.

He married December 12, 1957 to Shelby Davis Atkins.

He was the son of the late Taylor Atkins and the late Lela Wilson Atkins.

Joe was a very successful car dealer where he received various awards for being the top salesman in the 60's & 70's. He was in the car business for 43 years. He formerly owned a dealership in Camden, TN. He finished his career after 16 years with Parker Ford in Murray, KY. He was loving father, former Jaycee, a US Army veteran and Baptist in faith.

Besides his wife, Joe is survived a daughter:  Kimberly "Kim" Kay Atkins of Tallahassee, Fla., a son:  Joel Eugene "Gene" (Peggy) Atkins of Dallas, Texas and a brother: Billy W. (Barbara) Atkins of Sycamore, IL.

Along with his parents , a brother: Bob Atkins preceded Joe in death.

Shelby Jean Atkins, age 78, of Murray, Ky., died Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, KY.

Ms. Atkins was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend to all.  She formerly worked at Holley Carburetor Plant and Brown Shoe Co.  She was Baptist in faith.   Her family will remember her as the epitome of a loving mother and a devoted daughter.

Born August 8, 1937 in Austin Springs, TN, she was the daughter of the late Henry Davis and the late Helen Newton Davis.

She was married December 12, 1957 to Joe Atkins who died December 23, 2015.   They were married for 58 years.

She is survived by her Daughter, Kimberly Kay Atkins (Kim) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Son, Joel Eugene Atkins (Gene) and his wife Peggy Fitzhugh of Dallas, Texas and one Sister, Diane Sykes of Iraan, Texas.
