Joann Denise Cleek

JoAnn Denise Cleek, age 77 of Springville, TN, died Monday, July 12, 2021, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

She retired from Penguin Group USA in Newbern, TN, where she worked in book distribution.  She loved being a homemaker, enjoyed cleaning, and cooking.  JoAnn loved crafts, especially crocheting blankets, and in her younger years enjoyed yard work.  She was a Christian by faith.

JoAnn was born April 22, 1944, in Gary, IN, to the late Joseph Rork and the late Vera McColloch Mitchell.

She was married March 3, 1968, to James Meredith Cleek, who preceded her in death on October 22, 2020.

She is survived by one son, William Joseph Cleek of Camden, TN; one daughter, Sheri Chowning of Virginia; one brother, William Mitchell of Springville, TN; three grandchildren, William James Cleek, Jennifer Denise Cleek, and Julia Dawn Cleek; and two great grandchildren, Payton Riley Cleek and William Grey Cleek.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, James Chowning; and one grandson, Cory Cleek.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Noel Hatman officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.
