Jo Ann Ables Venable

Jo Ann Ables Venable, age 81 of Cottage Grove, TN, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Paris, TN.

She was a longtime member of Cottage Grove Church of Christ, and was currently a member of East Wood Church of Christ in Paris, TN.  She formerly worked at Emerson Electric and Salant & Salant in Paris, TN.  She was a hard working woman who loved her family, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Jo Ann was born October 9, 1935, in Cottage Grove, TN, to the late Virchel E. Ables and the late Virgie L. Hill Ables.

She was married July 23, 1955, to David Franklin “Frank” Venable, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2010.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Buddy) Barker of Cottage Grove, TN, Rhonda (Ed) Cuthbertson of Paris, TN, and Glenda (Mike) Bryson of Paris, TN; two brothers, Thomas Vethro Ables of Cottage Grove, TN, and Elmo Ables of Martin, TN; two sisters-in-law, Lois Brown of Paris, TN, and Judy Ables of Cottage Grove, TN; seven grandchildren, Traci Barker, Corey Cuthbertson, Adam Cuthbertson, Luke (Kristen) Cuthbertson, Jessica (Michael) McClure, Jennifer Campbell, and Cody Bryson; and eight great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Zelma Bradley; a brother, Clovis Dean Ables, and two brothers in infancy.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Friday, August 18, 2017, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at Cottage Grove Church of Christ in Cottage Grove, TN.  The funeral service will be Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00 am at Cottage Grove Church of Christ with John Dale officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Cody Bryson, Adam Cuthbertson, Luke Cuthbertson, Corey Cuthbertson, Chucky Ables, Ricky Ward and Nick Bradley.  Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery in Paris, TN.
