Jo Ann Jordan Chilcutt

Jo Ann Chilcutt, age 96 of Paris, TN, died Saturday, June 17, 2023, at her home. 

Jo Ann was born January 22, 1927, in Gibson, TN, to the late William Benjamin Jordan, Jr., and the late La Ouida Fields Jordan. 

Jo Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was married for 58 years to Charles Eugene “Gene” Chilcutt, who preceded her in death on December 3, 2006.  

Jo Ann was a beloved English teacher at Peabody High School in Trenton, TN, where she retired after 22 years.  She loved gardening, canning, and freezing her home-grown foods.  Jo Ann was a creative woman with many special talents.  She loved entering her canning, flower arrangements, and sewing projects in the County Fair and was proud of many blue ribbons.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Paris, TN.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 14 years, Thomas Etheridge of Paris, TN and Mayfield, KY; her two children, Charles Lynn Chilcutt (Mona) of Dexter, MO and Knoxville, TN, and Celia Alice Chilcutt Inman (Carl) of Cary, NC; six grandchildren, Charla Chilcutt Lundgren (Eric), Christin Chilcutt Stone (Matt), Courtney Chilcutt Carmichael (Patrick), Alisa Inman Ewell (Alan), Lieutenant Colonel M. Jordan Inman (Kitty), and Major A. Tyler Inman (Maryam); and 15 great grandchildren, Christopher Stone, Carter Stone, Chance Stone, Brogdon Lundgren, Barrett Lundgren, Anna Claire Carmichael, Audrey Mae Carmichael, Atlee Chase Carmichael, Landon Hardin, Jake Ewell, Carly Inman, Anna Kate Inman, Sam Inman, Cash Inman, and Lola Inman. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Jordan Gentry and her grandson, Charles Brogdon “Chase” Chilcutt. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Monday, June 19, 2023, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Larry Simmons and Dr. Trent Bullock officiating.

Jo Ann’s great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
