Jimmy Ray Wynn, age 73 of Cottage Grove, TN, died Friday, November 27, 2020, at his residence.
He retired after 35 plus years as a self-employed carpenter in Henry County. He was a longtime member and deacon of East Wood Church of Christ in Paris. Jimmy was very involved in Henry County Little League Baseball, where he coached in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. He also coached Henry County travel league baseball teams in the 1990’s. He enjoyed playing church league softball at McNeil Park and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Jimmy also enjoyed pickin’ the guitar and educating people in music. He loved God’s Word and enjoyed talking to people about the Bible. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and his special dog, Maggie Mae. Jimmy’s family said he led them well, taught them to be God-fearing people, and leaves behind a faithful legacy.
Jimmy was born October 13, 1947, in Murray, KY, to the late Pink Wynn and the late Allie Mae Chadwick Wynn.
He was married September 5, 1969, to his wife of 51 years, Laura Ellison Wynn, who survives, of Cottage Grove, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by his two sons, Jimmy Ray (Valerie) Wynn, Jr. of Cottage Grove, TN, and Leslie Lee (Wendy) Wynn of Puryear, TN; two sisters, Susie Wrye of Nashville, TN, and Hazel Hayes of Cottage Grove, TN; six grandchildren, Clint Wynn, Maddie Watkins, Gavin Watkins, Liam Mellon, Hunter Bethune, and Hannah Bethune; and one great grandchild, MillieAna Bethune.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Phillips.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2020, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 30, 2020, at 12:30 pm, at Walker Cemetery in Paris, TN, with Josh Manning, Chad Kennedy, and Brian Wimberley officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bennie Fries, Scooter Miller, Hunter Bethune, Jason Wrye, Jimmy Phillips, and Kevin Hayes. Named as honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Paschall, Orville Orr, Scottie Berryman, Tony Nance, Ken Hester, Gary Downey, Tommy Bray, and Jackie Madden.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Walker Cemetery.
