Former Puryear Police Chief Jimmy Cornelious Ray, 70, of Puryear died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Chad Lamb will officiate. Burial will be in Puryear City Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 16, 1943, in Brownsville, he was a son of the late Albert Cornelious Ray and Wilma Dee Jackson Ray.
Ray was a Baptist, a farmer and self-employed brick mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He leaves two daughters: Sherry Ray of Paris and Anita (Charlie) McAlpin of Mayfield; one son: Chad Ray of Murray; one sister: Joyce Wilson of Jackson; two brothers: Guy and Larry Ray, both of Puryear;
Ten grandchildren: Justin and Zachary McAlpin, Cory (Meghan) McAlpin, Seth McKinny, Shaunna Ferguson, Chase and Andrew Shankle, Kathryn, Magen and Anna Grace Parker; and two great-grandchildren: Kaylyn and Presly Ferguson.
He also was preceded in death by a sister: Kitty Stephenson; and a brother: Carlton Ray.
