Jewell Phelps

Jewell Phelps, age 97 of Paris, TN, died Monday, October 29, 2018, at Henry County Healthcare Center.

Jewell formerly worked at L & N Railroad, Holley Carburetor and Belk in downtown Paris where she loved working for many years. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she enjoyed traveling with the Keenager group.

Jewell was born July 26, 1921 in Springville, TN to the late Doss Berry and the late Cora Redden Berry.

She was married February 20, 1946, to Charlie S. Phelps, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Phillip) Wells of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Melissia (Tracey) Maupin of Paris, TN, David (Kelly) Wells of Knoxville, TN, and Daniel (Lindsey) Wells of Memphis, TN; and six great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Johnny Phelps; one sister Lillian Stagner; and one brother, Arlie Berry.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018, from 11 am to 1 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1 pm in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Jonathan Smith officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Paul Copeland, Mark Copeland, Gary Barker, Austin Thompson, and Tracey Maupin.

Burial will follow the service at Memorial Cemetery.
