Jerry "Poppy" Watkins

Jerry "Poppy" Watkins, age 62 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday morning in Paris, TN.

Jerry had worked in advertising distribution for several years. He was an avid, life-long golfer.   He was the former superintendent at Dunmor Country Club in Dunmor, KY.  He had also worked as a Greenskeeper at The Tennessean, Paris Landing, Futures, and The Oaks golf courses.  He was 2017 Club Champion at Paris Country Club and a former Club Champion at The Tennessean.  He also won multiple medals in District, State and National Senior Olympic Competitions.  Jerry had also been active in all youth Athletics.  He was loved by many youth that he had coached.

Jerry was born June 24, 1955 in Waukegan, IL to the late Clyde W. Watkins and the late Nancy Ann Griffith Watkins.

He was married on July 9, 1992 to Gail Hamilton Watkins who survives of Paris, TN.  He is also survived by two sons, Kevin (Shanna) Watkins of Paris, TN, Darren (Nicki) Watkins of Paris, TN; one brother, Joe (Cheri) Watkins of Springville, TN; and three grandchildren, Jacob Watkins, Alec Watkins, and Kyle Watkins.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  His body is to be cremated.

There will be a Celebration of life Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Paris Country Club, 195 Country Club Rd, Paris, TN  38242.
