Jerry Jerome "Romey" Williams

March 26, 1945 — November 5, 2019

Jerry Jerome “Romey” Williams, age 74 of Paris, TN, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at his home in Paris. Jerry was born in Buchanan, TN on March 26, 1945, the son of the late Franklin Freamon, and Loren Jaylye Williams of Buchanan.

Jerry was a Christian and Baptist by faith and believed that God held each of us in his hands, and no decisions in life were ever made without prayer. Jerry married Karen (Miller) Williams on November 18, 1967, who survives. He is also the father of Kristen (Jesse) Jackson and Paul (Amy) Williams, and dearest Papa of six grandchildren, Pastor Kellen (Caroline) Robbins, Avery (fiancé Miah Hockett) Robbins, Hayden Williams, Rowan Williams, Justin Jackson and Jared Jackson. Jerry also had the blessing of raising Joseph (Debbie) Miller, his brother-in-law that he loved like a son. He also leaves behind brother-in-law, Fred (Judy) Miller, sister-in-law, Patricia (Danny) Oliver, and several loving nieces and nephews.

He had two sisters whom he loved dearly, Joyce (the late Jerry) McNutt of Paris, and Marie (Sonny) Wilson of Paris. Two brothers that were also his best friends, Earl (Erlene) Williams of Mansfield and Danny (Katie) Williams of Springville. Proceeding him in death were three brothers, Othel (Mary) Williams, John (Sheila) Williams and Joe Darrell Williams; and one brother-in-law, John Litton.

Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1965 until 1967. He held a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, in Labor & Management, and he worked for 30 years at the Ford Motor Company Glass Plant Division in Dearborn, Michigan. After leaving Ford Motor Co he held several part time positions before retiring back to Paris TN. Jerry would tell you the job he loved the most was his last position with TOSH Farms in Henry. Hard work, yes, but he loved the people and being outdoors.  He worked up until the last day before he found out he had cancer.  Jerry was strong in character and a blessing to many who knew him. He loved to talk about the old days and had a memory that never stopped.
