Jerry Donald Bridges

Jerry Donald Bridges, age 81 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Union Friendship Baptist Church.  Jerry enjoyed teaching Bible class at church and reading anything concerning health.  He loved mowing with his tractor and enjoyed learning all his life.

Jerry was born November 6, 1938, to the late William Barton Bridges and the late Eva B. Hall Bridges.

He was married April 7, 1972, to Opal Mae Houston Bridges, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Tamara (Pete) Lackey of Paris, TN; one son, Lane Barton of West Bridgewater, MA; and two grandchildren, William Barton (Jerrica) Terban of East Bridgewater, MA, and Maxwell Wesley Terban of Stuggart, Germany.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Burkeen and Katie Harding; and one brother, Elroy Bridges.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2020, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Saturday, August 15, 2020, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am.  The funeral service will be Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 10:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Tom Winchester officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
