Jerry Rickman, age 74 of Paris, TN, passed away Thursday. August 1, 2024, at AHC of Paris, after a 9-month battle with cancer.
He retired after a 34-year career as an electrician and was the owner & operator of Rickman’s Electric in Paris. He played basketball in his high school years for Farmington High School in Farmington, KY. Jerry was instrumental in helping & working with Hoofbeats for Hope and was the former president of the Henry County Saddle Club. He was a former member of the Henry County Jaycees and a member of the Citizens Deputy program during the Sheriff Monte Belew administration. In 2011, Jerry was saved & baptized at New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris. He enjoyed trading guns, watching westerns, horses, and loved his family.
Jerry was born August 18, 1949, in Farmington, KY, to the late Charlie Floyce Rickman and the late Glendara Owen Rickman.
He was married June 29, 1984, to his wife of 40 years, Roberta Blevins “Bobbie” Rickman, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by his two children, Julie (Del) Smith of Lebanon, TN, and Clayton (Rachel) Richardson of Gallatin, TN; one brother, Scott Paul Rickman of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Jesse Smith, Robert Del Smith, Devin Smith, Morgan-Blair Richardson, and Amelia Richardson; and several cousins.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2024, from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held with Brian Wimberley officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Del Smith, Devin Smith, Del Smith, Jesse Smith, Clayton Richardson, and Gary Holland. Named as an honorary pallbearer is Scott Paul Rickman.
Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, TN.
The family would like to thank Sunshine and Hillary from AseraCare Hospice for their care for Jerry during his last days.
Because of Jerry’s love of horses, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ABLE Farms, 5566 Elkhorn-Nobles Road, Springville, TN 38256 to go toward their ministry as “ABLE Stables, Where Hoof Beats of Hope are Heard.”
