Jerry Hamlin

Jerry Haynes Hamlin, age 82 of Henry, TN, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her daughters.

Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church of McKenzie, TN. She worked as the Executive Director of the McKenzie Housing Authority for 13 years and was the Executive Director of the Paris Housing Authority for 19 years. Jerry loved camping, raising and riding horses, sewing, cardinals and bird watching. She loved spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Jerry was born June 21, 1942, in Clarksburg, TN. 

She married Joe N. Hamlin on November 24, 1960, and he preceded her in death May 8, 2017. 

Survivors include two daughters, LeAnn Hamlin (Debbie Rushing) of Kissimmee, FL, and JoEllen Hamlin Garces of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Mary Ellen Ellis of Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Nick (Katie) Garces of Collierville, TN, and Katelyn (Robert) Tunnell of Knoxville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Liam, Maddux, and Travis Tunnell, and Josie Kate Garces; and several nieces and nephews.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St./P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home and Monday, December 9, 2024, from 12 – 2 pm. Her funeral service will be Monday at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Chaplain Franklin Hicks and Rev. Don Williams officiating.

Besides her husband, Jerry was also preceded in death by her father, Curtis Taylor Haynes; mother, Madelyn Jewell Simmons Barham; and stepfather, H.C. Barham. 

Larry Ellis, Larry Niemi, Donnie Oliver, Tommy Crane, Nick Garces, Robert Tunnell, Stan Chilcutt, and Kevin Hamlin will serve as pallbearers. Terry Ellis and Adron Joyner are named as honorary pallbearers. 

Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Henry, TN.
