Jamie Lynn "Jim" Fields

Paris, TN

Jamie Lynn “Jim” Fields, a retired Paris attorney, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was 81.

Mr. Fields had practiced law for more than 20 years in Paris. Before he began his law career he had taught high school in Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio and worked for the Tennessee Departments of Labor and Education.

Born February 1, 1943, he grew up on a farm in Graves County, Ky. He received his bachelor's degree from Murray State University and his master’s from Southern Illinois University.

Mr. Fields was known as a lover of music, playing guitar and banjo, and singing at local events. He enjoyed many types of music from Bob Dylan to Ralph Stanley. He wrote numerous songs and poems.

He had a tender spot for all animals and supported animal welfare organizations. He rescued and adopted several dogs: Noel, Tassy (ChewChew), Ivy, Houdini, and Spotski. He adored them all and they him, including his childhood collie, Ring.

He loved to joke, entertain, and listen to and tell funny stories. He was an avid reader of all kinds of books and especially history, Jesse Stuart, and Wendell Berry.

Mr. Fields is survived by the love of his life and faithful friend, Sharon; a sister, Darlene Easterwood; a sister-in-law Dorris Fields; a niece, Tammy Fields; and nephews, Trent and Cole Fields, all of Wingo, Ky; and a nephew, Benjamin Seth Bowden of Washington, D.C.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Noble Puryear Fields and Datha Yates Fields; and a brother, Rodger Fields of Wingo.

 Mr. Fields chose to be cremated and there will be no public services. Ridgeway Funeral Home of Paris in in charge of arrangements.
