James L. “Jimmy” Valentine, Sr. age 71, of Paris, TN, died Friday, November 25, 2016, at his residence in Puryear, TN.
Jimmy was a member of Puryear Baptist Church where was active in Awana, and serving in the church kitchen. He also enjoyed singing at the Puryear Nursing Home every Sunday. A fireman for the Paris Fire Department, he served from September 24, 1979, to June 15, 2006, when he retired with the rank of Captain. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends.
He was born July 13, 1945, in Mayfield, KY, to the late David Arthur Valentine and the late Lois Lorene Hodges Valentine.
Jimmy was married on August 29, 1996, to Vicki Hamilton Valentine, who survives of Puryear. Besides his wife, he is also survived by one son, Jim Valentine of Paris, TN; one grandchild, Noah Valentine of Paris, TN; one sister Janna Hughes of Murray, KY; one sister-in-law, Faydette Lenartson of Lagrange Park, IL; three nieces, Heather Hughes of Baltimore, MD, Nita (Paul) Hosso of IL, and Ann Lenartson of IL.; one nephew, Chuck Lenartson of IL; and one great-niece, Kate Hosso of IL.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles H. Valentine.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. The body is to be cremated.
Memorial Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and on Thursday December 1, 2016, at Puryear Baptist Church from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Puryear Baptist Church, with Bro. Mike Rhodes and Bro. Jerry Lee officiating.
