Jackie "Jack" Lundquist, Jr.

Jackie Fredrick Waldemar “Jack” Lundquist, Jr., age 67 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Ascension Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Jack had two careers he loved - racing horses and driving trucks commercially.  In his horse racing career, he started as a groom but transitioned to racing horses and finally became a trainer.  His second career as a professional truck driver, allowed him to travel the country - often with his wife, Candace and his dog, Zippidy, at his side. Jack enjoyed this job as he loved to drive and see the country. He loved to cook, with his specialty being his famous spaghetti sauce.  Jack’s favorite leisure activity was fishing as it would allow him time to relax and reflect.  In addition, he enjoyed spending special time with his cousin, Mark, hunting.  He attended Tennessee Valley Community Church in Paris.  

Jack was born November 19, 1955, in Santa Monica, CA, to the late Jackie Fredrick Waldemar Lundquist, Sr., and Raynata Juan Koch Lundquist.

He was married August 1, 1993, to Candace Kay Leydig Lundquist, who survives in Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by two sisters, Janette Gideon of Silver Springs, NV, and Kathryn (Marc) Adams of Placerville, CA; one brother, David (Kim) Lundquist of Bloomington, MN, a cousin who was like a second brother, Mark Lundquist of Paris, TN; brothers-in-law, Guy Leydig of Paris, TN and David Leydig of Sacramento, CA; and a close family friend, Sandy Cahill, of Paris, TN.  Jack was also loved by several cousins, nieces and nephews who enjoyed his sense of humor and wonderful smile.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Homer Gideon.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Monday, October 16, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Monday, October 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with his cousin, Pastor Jerry Schmidt, officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Lundquist, Michael Davis, Michael Lundquist, Ricky Lyell, Joe Riggs, Ole Garnica, and Chris Hickman.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
