Jack Rufe Hays, age 82, of Paris, Tenn., died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn.
He was married February 2, 1955 to Bettie Reed Hays and she survives.
He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and a U.S. Airforce Veteran of Korean War. He then worked at J.R. Hayes Construction and Retired as Superintendant from TN Asphalt after 32 years. He was a Licensed Private pilot and a member of Experimental Aircraft Assoc. Chapter #734. Jack was a member and former President of Paris Saddle Club and former board member of Henry Co. Fair Assoc. He was Inducted to Henry County Sports hall of Fame and was an avid Henry County Sports Supporter.
He was born May 30, 1931, in Parsons, the son of the late James Rufus “J.R.” Hayes and Bertie Opal Carrington Hayes.
He is survived by two Daughters, Debbie (Tim) Doster of McKenzie, Tenn., and Jackie (Paul) Bickel of Louisville, Ky; Son, Tom Hays of Jefferson, Ga.; Two Sisters, Leisa Wimberley of Henry, Tenn. and Diann (Len) Holmes of Sugar Tree, Tenn.; Brothers, Jim (Roslyn) Hayes of Henry, Tenn. and Jerry (Debbie) Hayes of Henry, Tenn.; and Grandchildren Katie and Claire Bickel.
He was preceded in death by; son, Reed Hays and brother, Lynn Hayes.
Chosen as pallbearers are Phil Brown, Ray Norwood, Bob Hall, Durante Pryor, Paul Bickel and Tim Doster.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Mann, Gordon Owen, Bobby Triplett, Dicky Bomar, Bobby Owens, Finis Wilson, and Tommy Swor.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. , Paris, Tenn., where the family will Visit from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2013 and after 9:00 AM Tuesday until the service at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home. Fred Shackelford will officiate. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.
