Jack Gillespie

March 28, 1928 — December 13, 2019

John Davis “Jack” Gillespie age 91 of Paris, died Friday, December 13, 2019, at the AHC Healthcare Center in Paris.

Jack formerly co-owned and operated Gillespie Motor Company with his brother David Gillespie. He worked for over 50 years with his wife and then later their son Joe Gillespie. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed fishing and quail hunting along with spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jack was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Born March 28, 1928, in Buchanan, he was the son of the late Carl Gillespie and the late Viola Davis Gillespie.

Jack was married December 24, 1949, to Betty Jo Thompson, who preceded him in death on October 18, 2017.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie (Lynn, Sr.) Paschall of Paris:  his son, Joe Gillespie of Paris; a brother, Jimmy (Judy) Gillespie of Huntsville, AL; a sister in law, Linda Gillespie of Paris; three grandchildren, Lynn (Kimberly) Paschall of Waverly, John (Jenifer) Paschall of Paris, and Laura (Zach) Carper of Paris; and four great grandchildren, Hannah Paschall, Luke Paschall, Lyndsey Paschall, and Ezra Clay Carper.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carlene Patterson and Mary Jo Larsen, and his brother, David Gillespie.

Pallbearers for the service are Lynn Paschall, John Paschall, Luke Paschall, Zach Carper, Jonathon Boales, and J.D. Gillespie.  The members of the Friendship Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2019, from 12 until 2 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, December 15, 2019, in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home conducted by Dr. Trent Bullock.

Burial will follow the service at the New Beaverdam Cemetery.
