Helen Sykes

Helen Doris Sykes, age 90 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 21, 2017, at Towne Square Care in Puryear, TN.
She was a long-time member of Maplewood Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, music, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in her younger years.
Helen was born on June 19, 1927, in McAlester, OK, to the late Walter Claude Hogan and the late Mattie Lowry Hogan.
She was married June 8, 1946, to John Webber Sykes, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 10, 2017.
She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Howard) Goldberg of Louisville, KY; and one son, Johnny W. Sykes III of Paris, TN.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Elaine Arnold; and one brother, Walter Hogan.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, with the funeral service Friday, July 28, 2017, at 3:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Paul Veazey officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be Troy Bruce, Dillon Rice, Billy Elliott, Chris Smith, Michael Mason and Morris Ashby.
Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
