Hazel Lucille Powers

Hazel Lucille Powers, age 94 of Dyer, TN, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Dyer Nursing and Rehab in Dyer, TN.

Hazel was Baptist in her faith. She managed several restaurants in the Memphis area before opening her own restaurant. She went on to own several different restaurants throughout the years. She also worked in Home Health before retiring.

She was born September 6, 1930, in Dresden, TN to the late Ennis Haggard and the late Bettie Vick Haggard.

She is survived by two sons, David (Nancy) Powers of Germantown, TN, and Jim (Mary Lou) Powers of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Rosie Kimes of California; one brother, Nathan Chandler of Texas; six grandchildren, Clark G. Powers, J. Nathan Powers, April N. Powers, Chris Hix, Katie Harris, and Brian Collins; and eight great grandchildren. 

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Julie Reece, and Brenda Collins; and one sister, Vonnie Ruth Baham

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Ridgeway Funeral Home from 4 – 6 pm and Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 12 – 1 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday at 1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with her son Jim Powers officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Nathan Powers, Clark Powers, James Powers, Chris Hix, Brian Collins, and Rudy Collins.

Burial will follow in McRaes Chapel Cemetery near Big Sandy, TN.
