Gwyn Bellamy McNutt, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, in Paris, TN.
She was a Henry County genealogist, Girl Scout Leader, and was the co-author of “Tennessee Trailings” of the Paris Post-Intelligencer. She spent years as a substitute teacher and is known by a generation of Henry County students as being the very “strict” substitute. She published multiple genealogy books that are listed in the Library of Congress and was instrumental in preserving and restoring genealogy records for the Henry County Library and LDS Family History database. She was a lifetime member of the Tennessee Parent-Teacher Association, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a board member of the Paris Henry County Heritage Center, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and coordinator of the Henry County Old Records Preservation. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Paris, TN.
Gwyn was born January 23, 1935, in Memphis, TN, to the late Thomas Robert Bellamy and the late Mattie Kate Dennis Bellamy.
She was married August 21, 1955, to Bobby Gene McNutt, who preceded her in death on October 19, 2012.
She is survived by one daughter Valeria McNutt (Joel B) Easley of Scott, AR; one son, Walter Thomas (Kathleen Annette) McNutt of Lake Shore, UT; one granddaughter, Melissa McNutt (James) Winder of Centerville, UT; one grandson, Robert Gene (Linda) McNutt of Springville, UT.; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Winder (8 yrs. old), Abigail Winder (5 yrs. old), Samuel Winder (4 yrs. old) and Caroline Winder (8 mo. old); two special grandchildren Michel Binkley and Katie Binkley of Memphis, TN; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by twin sons, Duncan Dennis and Cameron Gene McNutt; and one brother, Robert Dennis Bellamy.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home and the body is to be cremated. An informal remembrance gathering will be held all day on Saturday, November 4th at Gwyn’s home on 210 Fairview Street, Paris, TN. Anyone that would like to attend to visit the family and remember Gwyn is invited.
