Grady Nolen Neal, age 87 of Buchanan, TN, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at his residence in Buchanan, TN.
He retired after a more than 35-year career from Northwestern Printing Company in Chicago, IL, where he worked as a printer. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Grady loved to dance, especially the two-step with the love of his life, Doris. He was an avid Chicago Sports fan, cheering for the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He loved going to the horse races, coin collecting, recycling, and everything Elvis. Grady enjoyed watching westerns, the Simpsons, and the Big Bang Theory on TV. He hated white rice but loved biscuits and gravy. He loved his children, grandchildren, and his pets, especially his beloved dog, Bedford who passed during Thanksgiving of 2018.
Grady was born June 8, 1932, in Huntsville, AL, to the late Nolen Alexander Neal and the late Effie Lula Reed.
He was married December 3, 1950, to his wife of 67 years, Doris Evelyn Neal, who preceded him in death on December 20, 2017.
He is survived by four children, Patsy (Mark) Kiefer of Chicago, IL, Lois (Robert) Palmer of Buchanan, TN, Debbie (Harold) Charles of Buchanan, TN, and Vicki (Walter) Miranda of Wauconda, IL; one sister, Diane (Ralph) Thomas of Florida; eight grandchildren, Mark Kiefer, Jr., Kristin Murphy, Joey Charles, Lucas Palmer, Samuel Palmer, Taylor Miranda-Thompson, Sydney Miranda, Lexi Miranda; five great grandchildren, Peyton Charles, Stephen Kiefer, Owen Kiefer, Virgil Palmer, and Nora Maeve Murphy; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Geila Plucinski of Des Plaines, IL.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Russell, Edith Mullins, and Alyce Swaim; and one brother, Gene Paul Neal.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday, July 6, 2019, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Chad Kennedy officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Kiefer, Jr., Joey Charles, Lucas Palmer, Samuel Palmer, Taylor Miranda-Thompson, and Sydney Miranda. Named as honorary pallbearers are Lexi Miranda and Peyton Charles.
Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.
