Grace Underwood

Grace Nelle Underwood, age 94, of Paris, Tenn., died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Morningside of Paris.

Grace was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.    She was a retired teacher that taught in Henry County and Tipton County Schools.    Grace was also an avid artist, promoting arts in Henry County.  She loved bird watching, nature, and flower gardening.  She was an antique collector and a frame restorator.

She was born April 10, 1921 in Puryear, TN to the late Tobe West and the late Steely Belle White West.

Grace was married July 15, 1942 to John Riley Underwood and he preceded in death May 27, 2013.

She is survived by her  Four Daughters,  Judy (George Perry) Tyree of Ripley, Tenn,  Linda (John) Jenkins of Gainesville, Fla,  Mary Jane (Redgy) Ross of Paris, Tenn,  and Amy (Stan) Veazey of Paris, Tenn; Seven Grandchildren,  Georgianne Tyree, Mary Grace Reed, Martha Parker, John Dale Ross, Emily Gamble, Nolan Poteete, and Greg Poteete;  And Eight Great Grandchildren.

Besides her Husband and Parents, Grace was also preceded in death by a Sister, Mary Virginia Snow.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 12 – 2 pm Sunday, November  8, 2015.    The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Sunday, November  8, 2015.

Dr. Joe Culumber will officiate.    Pallbearers will be John Dale Ross, Derek Parker, Tyler Gamble, Kevin Reed, Nolan Poteete, and Greg Poteete.

Interment will be at Puryear City Cemetery in Puryear, Tenn.
