Gordon Jackson

Gordon Jackson, age 81 of Puryear, TN, died Friday, January 18, 2019, at his residence in Puryear, TN.

He retired from the Tennessee State Highway Department after a 44-year career.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.  He enjoyed his cattle, farming, and running his beagle hounds.  He loved spending time with his family, especially the times he spent showing his great grandchildren around the farm.  Gordon attended Mt. Zion Church of Christ near Buchanan, TN.

Gordon was born June 25, 1937, in Puryear, TN, to the late Conway Porter Jackson and the late Ruby Paschall Jackson.

He was married November 25, 1996, to Patricia Brogdon “Pat” Jackson, who survives, of Puryear, TN.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Denise (Ken) Rawls; one son, Randy Jackson of Memphis, TN; two stepdaughters, Lori Boyd of Puryear, TN, and Tammy (Donnie) Wood of Puryear, TN; one stepson, Johnny (Vivian) Boyd of Cedar Hill, TN; seven grandchildren, Christina (Joey) Hutson, Josh (Amanda) Wood, Jana (Josh) Ferguson, Nicholas (Tiffany) Boyd, Tyler Wood, Samantha Ellis, and Tiffany (Alex) West; 10 great grandchildren; and three great grandchildren on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Grace Jackson; and one brother, Rex Jackson.

Arrangements are being handled Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2019, from 11:00 am – 2:30 pm, with the funeral service will beginning at 2:30 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Tom Cisco and Chad Kennedy officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Ferguson, Tyler Wood, Alex West, Joey Hutson, Britain Hutson, Josh Wood, Johnathan Hallman, Danny Jackson, and Larry Jackson.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Jerry Arnold, Autry Robinson, and Weldon Gallimore.

Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
