George Franklin, “Joey” Suratt, age 66 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at his residence.
He retired as 1st Class Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy after 21 years. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. Joey enjoyed carpentry work, cooking, baking, hunting, and fishing. He was very creative and artistic, and loved to draw and write poetry. He graduated from Dresden High School and attended Dyersburg State Community College.
Joey was born July 15, 1953, in Chicago, IL, to the late Ralph L. Suratt, Sr., and the late Virginia Lucille Criswell Suratt.
He is survived by his daughter, Juliana Isabel “Bonnie” (James) Epolito of Orlando, FL; four brothers, Ronald Suratt of Clarksville, TN, Donny Suratt of Martin, TN, Ralph (Lynnie) Suratt of Paris, TN, and Michael (Christie) Suratt of Gleason, TN; and four grandchildren, Aria Rose Epolito, Gianna Isabel Epolito, Tessa Grace Epolito, and Luca James Epolito.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Linda Patricia Rhodes; and three brothers, Johnny Suratt, William Suratt, and Alton Suratt.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Sunday, November 3, 2019, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Jimmy Higgins officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mark Rhodes, Andy Suratt, Dart Suratt, Kerry Suratt, Brandon Suratt, and Marty Suratt. Named as honorary pallbearers are Jack Lewis, Travis Suratt, Christian Jenkins, and Michael Canady.
Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery in Bradford, TN.
