George Wyatt

The funeral service for retired South Central Bell employee George F. Wyatt of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Trent Bullock will officiate. Entombment will follow in Rose Lawn Mausoleum in Paris.

Named as pallbearers are Chris and Brad Ridgeway and Jeff, Steve, Bill and Butch Wyatt.

Gordon Owen will be an honorary pallbearer.

Born May 5, 1920, in Cottage Grove, he was a son of the late John Wesley Wyatt and Eula Mae Hedges Wyatt.

His wife, Mary Lavenia Barnett Wyatt, died Dec. 17, 2011. They were married on Dec. 21, 1941.

Wyatt was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church. He retired after 36 years with South Central Bell. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Telephone Pioneers and CWA Union. A longtime Boy Scouts of America leader, he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

He leaves one daughter: Carol (T. Leon) Ridgeway of Paris; one son: Dick (Janet) Wyatt of Brentwood; two brothers: Paul (Helen) Wyatt of Memphis and Ed Wyatt of Paris; five grandchildren: Chris Ridgeway, Brad (Angie) Ridgeway, Jennifer (Gary) Lee, Jamie Wyatt and Jeff (Kaci) Wyatt; and seven great-grandchildren: James, Jonathan, Eli and Ali Ridgeway, Ashley Kamps, and Kaydee and Aidan Wyatt.

He also was preceded in death by four sisters: Rachel Aycock, Burdett Bowen, Flossie Davis and Martha McMullan; and five brothers: Roy, Phillip, Frank, Marvin and Cleveland Wyatt.
