Garey Lovell "Rick" Barrick

Garey Lovell “Rick” Barrick, Sr., age 70, dedicated father, grandfather and friend, passed away at his home in Paris, TN, on Monday, April 10, 2023. 

He was born May 18, 1952, in Reisterstown, MD, to the late Glenn E. Barrick and the late Hazel Barrick. 

Rick was a long-time contractor, thriving business owner, and passionate drag racer.  He spent the majority of his life working and raising his family in Maryland, until he relocated to Tennessee in 2012.  He was a kind, loving, man who took on children in addition to his own and raised them like his own.  “Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad.”  Rick was definitely a great Dad whose frequent “Good morning, I love you” texts to his daughters were so special in his last months.

He is survived by his children, Garey (Heather) Barrick Jr, Kristen Barrick, Destiney Barrick, Kristina (Brian) Belt, Glenn (Ashlee) Barrick, Rikki Barrick, Morgan-Lee Barrick, and Shane Barrick; his brother Leroy (Lana) Barrick; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Rick’s life in the way he would want to be remembered – a loving and caring man who enjoyed life – on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Hampstead Cemetery in Hamstead, MD, with a celebration of life to follow.
