Frances Marie Mcelroy

Frances Marie McElroy, age 97 of Mansfield, TN, died Sunday, August 18, 2019, at her residence in Mansfield, TN

She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church for 64 years where she was the oldest living member.  She was an Avon sales representative for 58 years, and Avon became her passion.  Marie was a member of the Avon President’s Club and won many awards with Avon over the years.  She loved gardening and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and cooked four meals a day.

Marie was born June 30, 1922, in Mansfield, TN, to the late Alvin Travis Hoofman and the late Pearlie Tennessee Sherwood Hoofman.

She was married May 7, 1939, to Edward Ray McElroy, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her six children, Violet Jean (Harry) Brubaker of New Enterprise, PA, Joan (Jerry) Smothers of Gadsden, TN, Eddie (Betty) McElroy of Camden, TN, Judy (Dallas) Sutton of Mansfield, TN, Randy (Angela) McElroy of Farina, IL, and Delissa Koe (Phillip) Jessie of Mansfield, TN; one son-in-law, Buron “Butch” Walters of Havan, IL; 19 grandchildren, Harry Brubaker III, Vicki Jo (Norman) Winegarden, Jason (Angie) Smothers, Joy Smothers, Anthony (Deborah) McElroy, Sandy Tyler, Beth Kyle, Terri (Paul) Backherms, Len (Delaney) Sutton, Misty (Casey) McGregor, Caleb (Megan) McElroy, Ashley McElroy, Kendrick (Anna) McElroy, Levi McElroy, Seth McElroy, Adam Bell (Marissa Wilson), Lucinda Walters, Loren Walters, and Leon (Becca) Walters; 26 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Walters; and two brothers, Ray Hoofman and Alvin Travis Hoofman.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday August 23, 2019, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Saturday, August 24, 2019, from 11:00 – 2:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Randy McElroy, Jerry Smothers, and Gerry Gallimore officiating.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.  Earl Williams, Curtis Neal, Steve Hoofman, and Carl Ray Hoofman are named as honorary pallbearers.

Burial will be in Mansfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Mansfield, TN.
