Faye Cate Jones

Faye Cate Jones, age 98 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at her residence.

She retired after many years as a bookkeeper, last working for William R. Moore in Memphis, TN.  She was a member of VanDyke Church of Christ in Paris.  Faye was very independent and remained active throughout her whole life, right up to the very end.  She loved dancing and animals of all kinds.  She enjoyed being around her family and neighbors.  Faye lived with a sense of pride, never be indebted to anyone, and serving others who had served her.

Faye was born August 7, 1922, to the late Tom Cate and Alma Wimbish Cate.

She was married July 1, 1964, to Joseph “Joe” Jones, who preceded her in death on February 20, 1993.

She is survived by two nieces, Anne (Danny) Bailey of Saltillo, MS, and Valerie Caldwell of Paris, TN; four nephews, Charles (Lillie) Cate of Paris, Joe Cate of Springville, TN, Jim (Connie) Berlin of Atlanta, GA, and Mike (Maria) Berlin of Murphey, NC; special great-niece, Elizabeth “Libby” Caldwell of Paris; one surviving cousin, Rose Marie Platt of Paris; and a host of other great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Raye Powers; two other sisters, Martha (Leon) Berlin and Sarah (John) Scott; three brothers, James (Marie) Cate, Reuben (Ruth) Cate, and Edward “Billy (Lillie) Cate; two nieces, Kathryn Lisa Berlin and Melody Wells; and one nephew, Tommy Cochran.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Roger Banks and Charles Cate officiating.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery in Paris, TN.
