Everett Harold Hudgins

1SG Everett Harold Hudgins, ret. US Army, age 78 of Paris, died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his residence.

He was a member of the Church of Christ. Harold taught school in the Memphis City schools. He enjoyed sitting on his porch, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs. He also liked to visit the PX and commissary at Fort Campbell. While serving in the U.S. Army, Harold served two tours in Germany, two tours in Korea, and one tour in Thule, Greenland.

Born January 24, 1943, in Cottage Grove, he was the son of the late Joe Thomas Hudgins and the late Martha Lillian Bailey Hudgins.

He was married to Ada Earlene Akers Hudgins on October 18, 1968, who survives of Paris.

He is also survived by one daughter; Tamatha (Philip) Maxwell of Murray, KY, one stepdaughter Ruth Cox Harper of Paris, and one stepson Rhea Cox of Paris; one sister, Sara Champine of Paris; five grandchildren; TSgt Thomas (Maire) Brandenburg of Birmingham, AL, Mary Grace (Klent) Starks of Murray, KY, SSgt Anthony (Danielle) Brandenburg of Ft. Carson, CO, Ray Elwood Maxwell of Murray, KY and Justin Gladstone of Paris; 6 great-grandchildren, Lincoln Brandenburg, Layla Starks, Micah Starks, Maddie Brandenburg, Ethan Brandenburg, and Emmy Brandenburg; and several step  great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Christine Hudgins; four brothers, James Earl Hudgins, Ollie Hudgins, Bob Hudgins, and Ronnie Hudgins.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242.  The body is to be cremated with a Celebration of Life of service including Military Honors to be held Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Cemetery with Philip Maxwell officiating.
