Ella Van Huss, age 80 of Big Sandy, TN, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Plumley Rehabilitation Center in Paris, TN.
She graduated from East Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in children’s literature. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paris, being sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple on June 21, 1978. She was a homemaker who also volunteered at the Big Sandy Library.
Ella was born January 1, 1938, in Charlotte, NC, to the late William Ryan Cornell, Jr., and the late Hazel Palmer Cornell.
She was married March 25, 1958, to Claude Van Huss, who survives, of Big Sandy, TN.
Along with her husband, she is also survived by three daughters, Linda Conaway of Texas, Reatha (Harry) Moon of Paris, TN, and Amy (Tim) Montana of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Tricia (Larry) Allen of Hagerstown, MD; one brother, Billy (Vanetta) Cornell of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Mae King.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paris, with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm, with John Sutton officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Hensley, Shawn Hensley, Nathan Montana, Tim Rabas, Cody Parker, Glenn Green, and Shad Green.
Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery in Big Sandy, TN.
