Elizabeth Burnette

Ellen Elizabeth Burnette, age 93 of Paris, TN, died Saturday, December 7, 2019, at her residence.

She retired after many years from Holley Carburetor in Paris, then went on to work as a sitter for many families in the Henry County area.  Elizabeth was a member of East Wood Church of Christ in Paris.  She loved going to church functions and gospel singings.

Elizabeth was born October 21, 1926, in Hollow Rock, TN, to the late Homer Curtis Johnson and the late Lura K. McMackin Googe.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis “Mike” (Sandy) Burnette of Dyer, AR, and Gary Wayne Burnette of Jackson, TN; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Burnette of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Adam Burnette of Lumberton, MS, Brandy Webb and fiancé Thomas Tharpe of Paris, TN, Heather Michelle Burnette of Paris, TN, Michael (Dana) Burnette of Henry, TN, and Mark (Christy) Burnette of Paris, TN; 12 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Ray Burnette and Ronnie Burnette.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 10:00 am – 11: 00 am at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Charles Cate officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Burnette, Dallas Hancock, David “Tater” Hayes, Thomas Tharpe, Michael Burnette, Mark Burnette, and Timmy Miles.  Named as an honorary pallbearer is Joe Dumas.

Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood, TN.
