Edwin Wilson "Ed" Wheatley, age 74 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.
He formerly worked for the state of Tennessee as manager of Employment Security in Huntingdon, TN. He retired as a Conductor for CSX railroad, where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris, TN. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the American Legion Post in Paris. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved taking his grandchildren on trail rides on his golf cart. He also enjoyed spending Thursday nights at “The Shed House” with his friends. Ed was an avid University of Tennessee football fan and enjoyed working at Helping Hands.
Ed was born December 9, 1942, in Paris, TN, to the late Noah Bennie Wheatley and the late Elizabeth Holt Wheatley.
He was married February 14, 1970, to Janice Hicks Wheatley, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kelly (Jamey) Sanders of Dyersburg, TN; one son, Scott (Ashley) Wheatley of Huntersville, NC; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Hicks of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Chloe Sanders, Lilly Sanders, Carter Wheatley, and Cooper Wheatley; one niece; and two nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., and continue on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the service. The funeral service will be Friday, September 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Massey and Bro. Trent Bullock officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jeff Morris, Lou Carter, Tom Richardson, Gary “Bo” Sinclair, Don Bostick, Perry Hatcher, Chad Baldwin, and Tony Lacy. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Austin Perry, Jim Thigpen, Garry Smith, and friends of the “Shed House.”
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
