Edward Omer Kern, age 93, of McKenzie, Tenn, formerly of Henry County died Friday, June 27, 2014, at McKenzie Healthcare in McKenzie, Tenn.
Ed married Dorothy Gean Kern July 31, 2006 and she survives. He attended Jolley Springs Baptist Church near Gleason. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II serving in 5 Major Battles and received 5 Bronze Stars. He retired from Champion Box Company in Gurnee, IL. He enjoyed building cabinets and other many things.
He was born June 9, 1921 in Owosso, MI to the late Marion Kern and the late Chloe Swartz Kern.
Besides his wife, He is also survived by Three Step-Daughters, Shelia (Freddie) Cole of Paris, Tenn, LeAnn (Barry) Barnett of Camden, Tenn, Darie (Jason) Loggains of Melbourne, Ark; One Step-Son, Randy (Rita) Gean of Buchanan, Tenn; One Sister, Madge Thompson of Paris, Tenn; Several other brothers and sisters; 9 Step Grandchildren; and 24 Step Great Grandchildren.
Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by Step daughter, Joyce Abbott and Step son, Bill Gean.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.
He will be cremated with a Private Memorial Service at a later date.
