Dr. Barry Park McIntosh, Sr., retired radiologist, died Friday, December 6, 2013, in Paris, Tennessee.  He resided in Paris, Tennessee and Oxford, Mississippi and was 84 years old.

Born February 16, 1929, in Hernando, Mississippi, he was the son of late Elton Lorraine McIntosh, Sr. and Lalla Park McIntosh.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary Howell Anderson McIntosh, in 2005.  He is also preceded in death by his brother, Elton Lorraine McIntosh of Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Dr. McIntosh graduated from Hernando High School in 1947 as Valedictorian, University of Mississippi in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science and Medical Certificate, and the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis with a Doctorate of Medicine.  He completed his internship in Mobile, Alabama.  He obtained his medical board certification in radiology through the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. McIntosh had a 32-year tenure in medicine.  Dr. McIntosh began his career as a captain in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon.  He practiced primary care medicine in Hernando, Mississippi from 1956 to 1966; and founded and directed the Henry Country Medical Center Radiology Department from 1966 to 1986.  In addition, he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Security Bank & Trust of Paris, Tennessee from 1991 through today and the Chairman of the First National Bank of Oxford from 1994 to 2011.

Dr. McIntosh was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paris and Hernando.  In addition, he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Phi Chi Medical Fraternity.

He believed man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.  He exhibited this through care, compassion and generosity to family, friends and others.  He gathered great pleasure from other’s happiness and success.  Dr. McIntosh truly cherished and enjoyed life.

He is survived by three children:  Dr. Cooper Anderson McIntosh of Oxford, Mississippi (Caroline), Barry Park McIntosh, Jr. of Paris and Mary Howell McIntosh Gann of Houston, Texas (Jay); seven grandchildren: Cooper Anderson McIntosh, Jr., Eleanor Morgan McIntosh and Ann Caroline McIntosh, all of Oxford, Mary Elizabeth McIntosh and Barry Park McIntosh, III, both of Paris, and John Woodul Gann, III and Mary Howell Gann of Houston; and one nephew, James Hayes McIntosh of Holly Springs.

The McIntosh family has endless gratitude for the years of love, kindness and thoughtfulness of his dear friend Charlotte Senter.

Visitation will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Monday, the 9th of December, from four to six o’clock in the afternoon.  The funeral service will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Paris, on Tuesday, the 10th of December, at 11 o’clock in the morning, with Arthur Lodge officiating.

Pallbearers are Brent Dial, Bradley Heath, Gordon MacPherson, Brent Nickle, Mike Pettie, Henri Wedell and Tom Wood, M.D.  In addition, honorary pallbearers are the Directors of the Board of Security Bank & Trust of Paris and First National Bank of Oxford.
