Doy Baker, age 92 of Como, TN, died Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, TN.
He was a lifelong farmer, a self-employed heavy equipment operator for many years, and formerly operated Doy Baker Septic Service in Como, TN. Doy also owned and operated Baker’s Sawmill for several years. His family said that he enjoyed working and work was his hobby. He was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church.
Doy was born March 8, 1928 in Dresden, TN to the late Robert Baker and the late Louise McDaniel Baker.
He married Ann Todd Baker on January 9, 1953 and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2006.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna (Larry) Insco of Dresden, TN; one son, Mike (Tina) Baker of Como, TN; 6 grandchildren, Garth Baker, Riley Baker, Kim (David) Bailey, Jeff Insco, Chuck (Sherrie) Insco, and Laura (Jay) Barnes; 4 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Nash.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St/P0 Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Tom Winchester and Billy Ross officiating.
At the family’s request masks must be worn and all social distancing guidelines must be observed during both visitation and the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Radford, Roger Nance, David Bailey, Jeff Insco, Chuck Insco, and Myron Klutts. Kenneth Radford is named as an honorary pallbearer.
Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
