Dorothy Gean Kern, age 91, of McKenzie, TN, formerly of Henry County, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Paris Healthcare Center in Paris.

Dorothy retired from Midland Brake where she worked in the assembly department. She was a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, deer hunting, fishing, cats and dogs and especially her faithful companion “Little Man”.

Born January 7, 1927, in Troy, TN, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Fred Grissom and the late Allie Mai Ponder Grissom.

She first married William Taylor Gean on March 30, 1946, and he prededed in death on March 6, 2001.  She then married Edward Omer Kern on July 31, 2006, and he preceded in death on June 27, 2014.

Survivors include her four children, Shelia (Freddie) Cole of Paris, Lee Anne (Barry) Barnett of Camden, TN, Darie (Jason) Loggains of Melbourne, AR, and Randy (Rita) Gean of Buchanan, TN; a daughter in law, Connie Gean of Port Charlotte, FL; and two sisters, Mary Esch of Memphis, TN and Rosalee Snider of Gleason, TN.

Additional survivors include 17 grandchildren,  Jeff Gean, Jinny (Mark) Pritchett, Cindy (Phillip) Bailey, Eric (Becca) Chilcutt, Tiffany (Shannon) Rounds, Kelsi (Nic) Bray, Susan Abernathy, Cari (Wes) Malone, Jason (Beth) Barnett, Mami Cooper, Tina Gean, Lisa (Tim) Herbert, Chareese (Tod) Hastings, Kirby Pool, Karen (Bill) Everett, Kim (Will) Connors, and Troy Hysell;  38 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce and son in law Chuck Abbott; one son, Bill Gean;  one brother, Roy Grissom; one grandchild, William Austin Kimbel; and three great grandchildren, Catie Pritchett, Aaden McCurley, and Jasper Pool.

Her body is to be cremated with a private memorial service at a later date.
