Dorothy Linn Irby, age 88, of Henry, TN died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Paris Health Care Center.
Born July 4, 1926, in Hazel, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Carr Linn and Winnie V. Flood Linn.
Dorothy was married on Sept. 13, 1947, to Robert Newton Irby, who died Oct. 8, 1997.
She was the last owner of the Little Opry in Henry and played in the Misfits Band for more than 30 years. She was a member of Henry United Methodist Church, where she was a Girls’ Ambassador leader and Women’s Missionary Union member and leader.
Dorothy leaves four daughters: Patricia (Charlie) Winters and Rhonda (Lonnie) Allen, both of Henry, Donna (Steve) Pennington of Paris and Shirley Scott of Murfreesboro; three sons: Robert Dennis (Betty) Irby of Springville, David (Belinda) Irby of Henry and Glen Edward (Jerri) Irby of Paris; one sister: Eva Nell James of Whitlock; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Farley and Winnie Sue Ortiz; and two brothers: Hoyt and Orel Linn.
Visitation was Sunday from 4 - 8 p and after 9am Monday.
The funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Robert Dennis Irby and chaplain David Irby will officiate. Burial will follow in Henry City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her children and a niece, Annette Salazar.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and Eddie Turner and Lloyd Lewis.
