Dorothy A. (Francisco) Goulding, born December 20, 1930 in Rock Island, Illinois to the late Lutie Angelo and Laura Aretta Francisco, passed away July 11, 2014 in Jackson, Tennessee.

Dorothy was born, raised and educated in Rock Island. She worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and the United States Army where she always rose to the top of her field. She then married Robert D. Goulding in June of 1951, and supported his career as it went from Indianapolis, Indiana; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Blue Island, Illinois; Peoria, Illinois and finally to the Lockport/Joliet area.

Dorothy retired from the Will County Health Department in 1998, but still continued to work part time and give her time as a Stephen Minister for the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lockport, until moving to Tennessee after Robert's death.

Her accomplishments were many, but her accolades were few, because she was a quiet, humble woman who never "tooted her own horn". She had a wide range of interests, and loved to read. After a stroke some years back, when her vision was compromised, she worked tirelessly until she was able to read again. She was a woman of quiet dignity, and always was the personification of the word, "lady". But above all else, she loved her family unconditionally. She will be greatly missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert (2000); brother in law, Ray Watson; and sisters in law, Delores Goulding and Beverly Francisco.

Survived by her brother, John Francisco of Rock Island, IL; daughters, Karen (George) Hagey of Channahon, Kathy and Kimberly Goulding of Paris, TN; grandsons, Richard "Chip" Rosenthal of Iowa, Christopher (Angela) Goulding of Hoffman Estates, IL, Daniel Nagel (fiance' Rebecca Stephenson-Wehrle) of Channahon, IL and Brian (Heather) Nagel of Minooka, IL; great-grandson, Zachary Goulding of Hoffman Estates, IL; sister-in-law, Ruth Watson; and brother-in-law, Arthur Goulding, both of Wilmington, IL. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

According to Dorothy's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and she will be laid to rest with Robert, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, on August 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/jolietheraldnews/obituary.aspx?n=dorothy-a-goulding&pid=171754566#sthash.96cBHBfq.dpuf
